Top 3 best times to go to Oahu Hawaii
Winter | January | March |Best time to go comments Oahu Hawaii
The winter storm waves hit the coast on North Shore, while the Honolulu side is much much calmer. But more important, Hanauma Bay is a totally protected coral lagoon in a sunken caldera with only one side open to the ocean anyway so always pretty calm. I frequently have seen puffer fish, parrot fish, moray eels and sea turtles. The problem with the winter months in Hawaii is that the swells coming out of the north can make for rough conditions on north and east facing beaches. And, especially strong trade winds can generate wind waves on the leeward sides of the islands, resulting in murky conditions. And, rain causes runoff at the beaches, which can severely cloud the water. But, it's kind of a crap shoot as far as what the exact weather conditions will be at any given time this far out. At least you won't have to worry about hurricanes.

Hanauma bay is an excellent place to go snorkeling for a first timer. Yes, it's on the Southeast corner of the Island about 10 miles east of Waikiki.

I don't know when the off season is, but i went a couple of years ago in March the weather was perfect. I went for 2 weeks but i booked my flight about a month in advance for roundtrip airfare i only paid $179. Again this was a couple of years ago. I'm sure it will cost more, but believe me its worth it.If or when you go be sure 2 visit Pearl Harbor (USS Arizona Memorial),and The North Shore you won't believe the size of the waves.
Summer is one of the most expensive times to go, because kids are out of school. Spring and fall are the cheapest. Generally, from mid-march to mid-may, and from mid to late September and mid November. Airfares can drop 30-40% during these times. Hotel rates don't drop too much (20% or so). Just tell them you're on your honeymoon and you'll likely get a nice room upgrade for free in low season.
